There are different forms of past tense verbs.

Many verbs are regular.  You can add    ed    to them.

I laugh.      I laughed.    I have laughed. (with helping word)

Some verbs are irregular.  You usually can't add     ed    to them.  They change in different ways.

I eat.     I ate.    I have eaten.  (with helping word)
